We do not tour dance floor. This must be provided by the venue. This must be a flat, clean, black surface, without cuts or tears, taped with wide 50mm black PVC tape (Not gaffer and not clear PVC) and stretched to lie flat free from all bumps and wrinkles.
We do tour colour, but tour no other equipment.
Detailed lighting plans will follow. If you have any significant deadlines for lighting /staging plans or confirmation of crew calls, please advise.
Space
• Performance space 9m (wide) x 9m (deep) x 6.5 m (clear height beneath lighting bars) (this represents ideal dimensions for the piece, but is negotiable).
• Fully sprung floor, suitable for dance, covered with black marley dance floor, joined with wide (50mm) black (NOT clear) PVC tape, preferably running parallel to the front edge of the stage. The floor must be clean and lie flat, free from bumps, cuts, tears and wrinkles.
• The stage floor beneath the dance floor and in the wings must be free of holes, screws, nails, staples and other hazards.
• Full Blacks (with split in the middle) upstage with crossover behind.
• It is intended that the performance space will not be masked at the sides; wings must be empty and ti dy and side walls must be clean. If a clean, tidy aesthetic is not achievable, the wings need to be masked to create a black box, with legs running parallel to front of stage.
• Any black masking (including full balcks upstage) must be clean and hang straight without holes or torn edges.
• The performance area must be kept warm at all times from 1pm until the end of performance with a minimum temperature of 22° on every performance day. If the venue has a known history of draughts or temperature issues, space heaters must be provided by the venue.
Set & Props
• 1 table, 1 chair, 1 crate.
• 6 tall candlesticks, re-configured around the space by the performers during the piece.
• Leaves scattered on stage to create a pathway by the performers during the piece.
• The six candle-sticks have battery operated flicker candles rather than real flame in them.
Make-up
• Several performers will be wearing water-based body paint during the performance.
Smoke and Haze
• We require one haze machine running constantly DSR and one smoke machine USC behind the split in the blacks for a few cues.
Smoking and Naked Flame
• The production requires performers to light a cigarette and smoke on stage during the performance. There will be an ashtray with water in i t on the table MSL
Sound
• All music is recorded and will be played back on MD or CD.
• We need a good quality PA suitable for the size of venue capable of providing loud, clear sound reproduction, free of hiss and distortion, to every part of the auditorium.
• We need 2 onstage monitors.
• We also need a CD player on stage for the company’s use during Class.
Lighting
• We need a total blackout on stage without spill from emergency or exit lighting.
• 6-8 x 2m booms (3 or 4 each side, depending on depth of stage), with three or circuits on each
• Approximately 72 ways of 2Kw dimming, of which about 18 are needed onstage.
• Approximately 5 overhead LX bars (over stage), 6.5 m from dance floor, approximately 50 lamps overhead.
• 7 lamps front of house
• Lantern stocks will vary depending on venue size and rigging positions, but we will need at least:
23 x 1Kw (or equivalent)good quality profiles, capable of a sharp focus on all shutters. These must have a full set of working shutters, and a minimum of 30 degrees beam angle.
22 x 1Kw parcans, (19 with identical CP62 lamps, 1 with CP61 lamp, 2 with CP60 lamp)
28 x 1Kw Fresnels or PCs, all with barndoors
2 Strand 520 or Strand 300 series, with at least 100 channels. If venues cannot provide one of these lighting desks, the show must be plotted by venue staff from a paper printout prior to the company’s arrival.
• The lighting desk needs to be somewhere with a good frontal view of the stage.
Dressing Rooms
• The company consists of five female and two male dancers. All dressing rooms must be clean and warm.
• We need hot showers available at all times.
Technical support and crew
• All lighting and masking must be pre-rigged, ready to commence focus at 9am on the performance day when no extra get-in day is possible; the dance floor must be laid and taped in advance of the company’s arrival.
• For the fit-up, we need sufficient crew to focus all lighting safely.
• Focus is typically a three to four hour call.
• For the performance, we need at least two members of crew – one on stage to cue performers, and one to operate either lighting or sound. TBC.
• We will need cans to communicate between lx, sound and stage.
Get Out
• The company will need to strip out all colour from the lights after the performance and clear dressing rooms and stage of costumes and props. Ordinarily this should take 15-30 m inutes maximum.
The Performance lasts approximately 1 hour 10 minutes, with an interval of 20 minutes bewteen Acts 1 and 2.
