Green Apples

Technical Specification

A 10 minute piece for one female and one male dancer.
NB: The company does not tour any dance floor, lighting equipment, haze machines or sound equipment. All materials listed below must be provided by the venue or the promoter.

Space
• Performance space 6m x 6m (approximate); the performance area is a 5.2m diameter circle in the middle of the stage. The audience will surround this space.
• Blackout Cloth upstage. This should be a conduited flat cloth, not a rouched set of black curtains.
• Black side masking in the wings, preferably running flush to walls.
• The space must have an extremely good blackout. All ancillary working lights around the stage and auditorium must be switched off for the duration of the performance. All emergency lighting must be switched off wherever possible.
• The floor must be covered with black dance floor, joined with wide (50mm) black (NOT clear) PVC tape, preferably running parallel to the front edge of the stage. The floor must be clean and lie flat, free from bumps, cuts, tears and wrinkles.
• The stage floor beneath the dance floor and in the wings must be free of holes, screws, nails, staples and other hazards.
• The performance takes place in the round. The audience will stand (or sit) on stage20around a circle of rope which marks out the performance area. This space is 5m diameter. There will be no seats for the audience.
• The performance area must be kept warm at all times from 1pm until the end of performance with a minimum temperature of 22° on every performance day. If the venue has a known history of draughts or temperature issues, space heaters must be provided by the venue.

Sound
• We need a good quality PA suitable for the size of venue capable of providing clear sound reproduction, free of hiss and distortion. Please note that the piece is performed in the round with the audience watching the piece from on stage.
• The music for Green Apples is on CD.
• 1 CD Player

Lighting
• All lanterns are to be rigged overhead at 6-7m spread over 3 (minimum) to 5 (maximum) lx bars, depending on details of venue.
• 10 x identical Kw Fresnels, all on single circuits, all coloured in ROSCO 63 (pale blue)
• 1 full stage toplight wash, focussed off all masking, for preset and post-show audience lighting only. (typically 4 1 Kw fresnels in open white)
• 12 ways of 2Kw dimming.
• ETC Expression or Strand 500 series lighting desk, with at least 24 channels. If an appropriate desk cannot be provided, the lighting must be programmed in advance of the company’ s arrival. A printout of the programming can be provided. There are approximately 15 cues in the piece.

Haze
• The piece requires a constant level of heavy, static haze throughout. Typically this will require two haze machines to keep the space full from floor to ceiling, although this will obviously depend on the volume of the stage and the ferocity of any air-conditioning. Where possible, air-conditioning should be switched off for the duration of the performance.
